Benson R. "Big Ben" Williams, Sr.

WILLIAMSPORT - Benson R. “Big Ben” Williams, Sr., 77,  died on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on February 15, 1939 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Woodruff and Margie (Porter) Williams.  Benson was a graduate of Williamsport High School, 1958.  He had worked for 21 years at Textron as an aircraft engine tester and retired in 2008.  He was a member of Zion AME Church, Brother of the Elks #207 and member of the VFW Post 1.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing pool.

Benson is survived by fiancée; Eve Ellen Brown of Williamsport, two sons; Benson R. Williams, Jr. (Jessica) of Ocala, FL and Christopher Caskey of Williamsport, two daughters; Lorri Griffen of Galeton and Eugena B. “Gena” Cowen of Williamsport, one step daughter; Mary Williams of Alabama, 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great grandchild expected in January, one sister; Rosa Jane Hughes “Peachie” of Binghamton, NY and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Woody, Bobby and Albert and one sister; Helen L. White.

There will be a public viewing 3 – 4 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home where the Elks will hold a service at 4:00 p.m.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
