WILLIAMSPORT - Hugh O. “Buzz” Byerly, 83, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Arista Care Nursing Center, Montoursville.

He was married on May 2, 1964 to the former J. Marie Flock, who survives.

Hugh was born on July 9, 1933 in Dalmatia, PA and was the son of the late Oscar H. and Fara U. (Bingaman) Byerly.  He graduated from Lower Mahanoy Joint High School (now known as Line Mountain) then graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy.  He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War.  He was a prior partner at Byerly’s Service Registered, a transportation firm, and later worked in commercial truck sales.  Memberships include St. Marks Lutheran Church, Williamsport, Dalmatia Chapter of the Kiwanis, Williamsport Consistory and Salt Run Hunting Club.

In addition to his wife Marie, with whom he just celebrated 53 years of marriage, he is survived by one son; Jeffrey A. Byerly (Beth) of Williamsport.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; Clyde Byerly.

There will be a gathering of family and friends 12 – 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Chapel of St. Marks Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., Williamsport.  All other services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to Lycoming County Historical Society, 858 W. 4th St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport.
