WILLIAMSPORT - Ralph "Popeye" Augustine, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully Monday, November 13, 2017 at Leighton Place Senior Living, with his daughter Milissa by his side.

Ralph was born on February 23, 1930 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Ralph Anthony and Francis Catherine (Casale) Augustine. 

Ralph was a veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean War.  He worked on the Railroad, and worked as a Newspaper Cartoonist for several years. He retired after 30 years of service as a policeman for the Williamsport Police Department. He developed and managed his own Security and Window Cleaning Businesses.   He also worked for the Lycoming College Athletic Department, UPS, and U.S Cargo. 

Ralph was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, 40&8 Voiture, American Legion Post 617, Fraternal Orders of Eagles, Sons of Italy Lodge, AARP, and American Legion Post 1, where he served on various boards and was a participating member of numerous shuffleboard, pool, and bowling leagues.

He was an multi-talented athlete excelling in baseball, and basketball. He was sought out to play professional baseball. He played for various baseball, softball/fast pitch, and bowling church and community leagues. During his children's youth he coached Brandon Little League.

Ralph enjoyed cooking, exercising, yard sales, shopping, bingo, collecting, family gatherings, drawing, traveling, wood working, volunteering, music, and motorcycles.

Ralph is survived by two sons; Ralph Augustine, III (Kimberly Fountain) of Williamsport and John A. Augustine (Karen) of Jersey Shore, one daughter; Milissa M. Augustine (Ryan Swatsworth) of Williamsport, four grandchildren; Dana Augustine (Jordan Kilbourn) of Montoursville, Cody Augustine (Kelsey) of Williamsport, Alysha Augustine of Jersey Shore and Ralph Augustine of Colorado, three great-grandchildren; Adelyn, Parker and Mason Kilbourn and one sister; Vivian Marino of Williamsport.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debora A. Augustine in 2014 and his sister, Josephine LeFever.

Most of all, Ralph loved his family and friends. He was very proud of his Italian heritage, cherished life, always having a sense of humor, and genuine compassion for others of which he applied each day of his life. He was a lifelong supporter of his community.

There will be a public viewing from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport beginning with a memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Manno officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
