Ruth Margaret (Armstrong) Burkholder

LOYALSOCK TWP. - Ruth Margaret (Armstrong) Burkholder, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Rose View Center.

She was married to the late John A. Burkholder, Jr. who had passed away in 2015.

Ruth was born on January 27, 1926 in Johnsonburg and was the daughter of the late Percy and Anna (Gergenske) Armstrong.  She graduated from Williamsport High School and then Dickinson Junior College; now known as Lycoming College.  She was probably best known as a crossing guard for 25 years at the J. George Becht Elementary School.  Ruth was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Williamsport where she was in the Senior Choir for many years.  She was also a member of the Loyalsock Twp. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. 

Ruth is survived by two sons; John A. Burkholder, III of Williamsport and James A. Burkholder (Martha) of Bradenton, FL, two daughters; Carol A. LaBorie of Ithaca, NY and Amy E. Burkholder (Marc Williams) of Lopez and three grandchildren; Jaron Williams, Jacob Williams and Vicki Smith.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson; Justin Burkholder.

A gathering of family & friends will be held 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market Street, Williamsport where the memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m.  There will be a reception following the service in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
