MUNCY - Alan R. Shures, 79, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport.
He was married to the late Marcille F. (Kilmer) Shures for 47 years when she passed away in 2012.
Alan was born on June 15, 1939 in Jamestown, New York and was the son of the late Lou and Mildred (Anderson) Shures. He graduated from Frewsburg High School in New York in 1957 then graduated from college in Johnson City, New York. He joined and served with the US Airforce from 1958 through 1962. He had worked as a Satellite Engineer for Inspirational Network in Charlotte, North Carolina, formerly known as PTL. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church, Montoursville. He enjoyed crafts and woodworking.
Alan is survived by one brother; Thomas K. “Tom” Shures (Muriel) of Beavercreek, OH, three sisters-in-law; Joylene M. Speary of Muncy, Elouise H. Hults (Lewis) of Beaver Dams, NY and Charlotte M. Marangi of Painted Post, NY and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother; Eugene B. Shures.
There will be a memorial service held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Community Baptist Church, 1853 PA-87, Montoursville. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport.
