Betty Jane (Zinck) Sobala

HUGHESVILLE - Betty Jane Zinck Sobala passed away from her earthly body to her heavenly home with her Lord Jesus Christ on April 27, 2017.  She was 95 years of age and has resided since March of 2011 at Wolf Run Village near Hughesville, PA.

Betty graduated from the Williamsport School of Nursing and became an RN where she was employed after graduation.  Some years later, she moved to New Jersey where she became a head nurse of a Newark Hospital.

Betty was married to the late Chester Sobala of Ortley Beach, New Jersey.  After retirement, she had resided for many enjoyable yeas at Del Tora in Fort Myers, Florida, but thereafter moved back to Williamsport to reside with her sister, the late Ruthadel Houseknecht.  Both Betty and Ruth were long time members of the Newberry United Methodist Church, now the St. John’s Newberry United Methodist Church of Williamsport, PA.

Betty’s other sister, Susan Briggs, of Arlington, Virginia, also predeceased Betty, leaving to survive her two nieces, Patricia Witherspoon (John) of Southport, North Carolina and Nancy Van Deursen (Rod) of Annandale, Virginia, four great nieces and one great nephew, all of whom were a great joy to her.  The family vacationed near Hughesville at a cottage known as Wind Whistle Inn and were quite close.

Betty had received excellent care at the Wolf Run Village and especially since her recent accident suffering two fractured hips.  The family does thank Wolf Run Village for their excellent love and care during the years she and Ruthadel lived at that location.

The services for Betty will be announced at a later time at the convenience of the family in June of this years.  It will be officiated by Pastor Jay Jones of the St. John’s Newberry United Methodist Church. 

Funeral services and internment will be arranged by the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, Williamsport.
