Carl Goettel Obituary

Carl Goettel, Jr., 72, of Montoursville, passed away early Friday May 4, at the Williamsport Hospital.

He was born January 20, 1946 to Carl and Isabelle (Keeler) Goettel in Williamsport.  He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1964, then Penn State University in 1968, and served in the United States Army.  While serving in the Army Carl used the opportunity to travel extensively in Asia.  On May 15, 1999 he married Mary Ann Monell, whom he met at a Social Organization for Singles dance. When the opportunity presented itself they travelled frequently, to the West Coast, New England, Florida, and their favorite destination:  Edisto Island, SC.  Carl loved singing and was an active member of his church choir, 2 barbershop quartets:  Leisure Airs and Spring Street Four, as well as the West Branch Chorus.  He loved food, all food, and was a happy and upbeat person.  He tried to make those around him happy as well.  And he was a dedicated and involved member of his church:  the New Covenant United Church of Christ.

Carl is survived by his wife:  Mary Ann Goettel of Montoursville, a brother:  Larry Goettel (Joyce) of East Falmouth, MA, and a sister:  Shirley Hill of Williamsport.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother:  John Goettel.
