Charles Artman, age 88, passed away on January 4, 2019.
Charles was born in Williamsport, PA to James and Rose (Phillips) Artman. Charles married Dorothy Sortman on December 19, 1953. He joined the US Army and served his country fighting in Korea. After his service he returned to the Williamsport area and worked for several local employers, primarily in warehousing. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, bowling and playing poker, and especially loved Star Trek. Charles was a life member of the VFW, a member of the Moose, and when younger was a volunteer fireman.
He is survived by a son: Charles J. Artman (Wendy) of Williamsport; two daughters: Connie J. Hess (Gary) of Jersey Shore, and Emily E. Bausinger (David) of Williamsport; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Rose Tressler of Phoenix, AZ, and Jean Weaver of Williamsport.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his wife a daughter: Carol Riley, a grandson: David Riley, Jr., two brothers: James and Donald Artman, and a sister: Clara Stambo.
Friends and family are invited to a public viewing Tuesday, 8th of January, 2019 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Service, 500 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Charles’s name be made to the DuBoistown VFW 150 Shaffer Street Williamsport, PA 17702
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
