Darryl L. Worthy

Life Story

Darryl Lynn Worthy was born February 7, 1952 to the late Silas Levi Worthy and Nancy Corrine Powell in Philadelphia, PA.

He was educated in the Philadelphia school system and excelled academically. Darryl, affectionately known as “Pint” to some, enjoyed being with family and friends and was always the life of the party. Keeping everyone entertained with his singing and dancing was his favorite pastime.

During his early years, Darryl struggled with life on life’s terms. He transitioned to Williamsport, PA in 1988 seeking a new way of life. For the last 28 years, Darryl has been an active member of Narcotics Anonymous. Through recovery and sponsorship his life was impacted and his journey allowed him to help and impact the lives of others.

Darryl met and married Christina McLeod in June of 1994. Through this union a blessed and blended family became united with 4 children; Nicole, Tawanda, Tara and Darryl. He was a devoted husband and father and loyal to his family and friends. Darryl loved football and basketball and his love for his teams created many “debates”, all of which he would say he won.

Darryl was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Worthy. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Christina Worthy, Three daughters; Nicole Ford (Robert), Tawanda Worthy and Tara McLeod, one son; Darryl Worthy, three grandchildren; Shanae, Monet and Robyn, one sister; Linda Jones, one brother-in-law; Eddie Washington (Teresa), one aunt; Willetta Thompson. A cousin who was more like a brother; John Powell (Jody), one nephew; Albert Jones (Gia), four nieces; Monica Jones, Amber Lee Washington, Angel Washington, and Ariel Washington, a loyal and devoted “brother/friend” Braxton Hunter, and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
