Delores "Dorie" Elaine (Beers) Crownover

Delores Elaine Crownover age 76, a 60-year resident of South Williamsport, died Thursday, November 7, 2019. Born November 30, 1942, Dorie was the daughter of the late Carl and Mildred (Martin) Beers, Lewistown.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dyson “Dick” Crownover, two sisters, Alice (late Karl) Swartz, Jamestown, N.Y., and Margaret (Robert) Plank, Middleburg, and two brothers, Robert (Elaine) Beers, Litiz and Charles (Ann) Beers, Middlebury Center.

She was a dental assistant for Dr. T.B. Dean and a flower arranger for Weis Markets.

Also surviving are her children, Beth Ann (John) Zentner, Stafford, V.A., Susan Jean (Robert) Klopp, Saladasburg, and Christian Lockwood (Wendy) Crownover, Unityville; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Aaron (Christiana) Zentner, Matthew Klopp, Andy (Megan) Klopp, Amy (Dylan) Galetti, Caressa (Daniel) Walk, Joshua (Kayla) and Caleb (Emily) Crownover, and 14 great-grandchildren, Rachel, Riley, Abigail, Madison, Andrew, Ava, Gage, Lilly, Kayla, Brody, Ripley, Blake, Lucas and Ella Rose.

An excellent cook, she was famous for her Wednesday dinners when members of her family crowded into her dining room and afterward went home to try to recreate her recipes. Her Christmas and Easter celebrations were described as “over the top”. Her love of animals extended to numerous cats, five dogs, and a mini-horse. An avid reader, she was fond of Amish and Civil War novels.

A celebration of life service for Dorie will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 1:00pm at Agape Fellowship of the Mennonite Church, 485 East Third St., Williamsport with Pastor Dale Rintelman officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday from noon to 1:00pm at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Marks Cemetery, just a few hundred feet from her childhood family home on Green Avenue, Lewistown.
