Loyise (Oakes) Phillips

Loyise Phillips, 92, of Reading, formerly of Montoursville, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Elmcroft of Reading. She was born in Jersey Shore on March 21, 1926, to the late Howard and Etta (Shreckengast) Oakes.

Loyise was a member of the First Baptist Church of Williamsport. She was a 1944 graduate of Lock Haven High School. Loyise worked at JC Penny in the catalog department. She married Allan Phillips on September 12, 1947 after he was discharged from the Army. They moved to Lock Haven, Jersey Shore and finally called Montoursville home from 1959 to 2006. She liked to sew and cook for her family.

Loyise is survived by two sons, Dennis (Donna) Phillips of Reading and Curtis (Joan) Phillips of Baltimore, MD; and a grandson, Ryan (Elizabeth) Phillips of Shillington.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Allan “Blair” Phillips, who passed away in 2006.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM with Reverend Gwen Burnstine officiating.

Interment will be private for the family at Twin Hills Cemetery, Montoursville.
