MONTOURSVILLE - Theodore S. Larson Jr., MD, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at Ravine Ridge. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, the son of Genevieve and Theodore Larson.

Ted is survived by his wife of sixty years, the former Jane Shipman.

A graduate of Williamsport schools and Bucknell University, he received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and later graduated from Temple University Hospital School of Radiology.

Following graduation, he served as a captain in the 392nd Aerospace Medical Group at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, in aviation medicine.

Upon his return to Williamsport, Ted practiced radiology as a member of the West Branch Radiological Associates for thirty years. He was a member of the Lycoming County Medical Society, serving many years as secretary.

A long time resident of Eagles Mere, he was an active member of the Eagles Mere Conservancy and spent many happy hours hiking in the area. He was an active supporter of the Eagles Mere Friends of the Arts.

An avid collector of model trains, he was a member of the train committee at the Thomas Taber Museum.

Ted was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and served in many capacities, including a term as president of the congregation council.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Scherer (Doctor Edward), Richmond, Virginia; three children: a daughter, Lynne Larson, of Ocean Ridge, Fla.; and two sons, Theodore J. Larson III (Barbara), of Plymouth, Mass. and John Larson, of Williamsport; six grandchildren, Pruett Nance, of Bentonville, Ark., Aric Larson, Plymouth, Amie Lawson (Ted), of Duxbury, Mass., Alex Larson (Maria), of Scituate, Mass, and Cooper and Duncan Larson, of Williamsport. There are three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Sylvia (Scout) and Edward Benson Lawson, of Duxbury.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 9, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. James West presiding.

The family will provide the flowers. Contributions in Ted’s name may be made to the Eagles Mere Museum or the Eagles Mere Conservancy.
