(Williams) Welliver

LOYALSOCK - Betty Jane (Williams) Welliver, retired employee of the Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.
Mrs. Welliver's career spanned 32 years, serving in Altoona, Harrisburg, Williamsport and throughout Central Pennsylvania in various management capacities. She graduated from the Altoona High School and attended Lycoming College.
She was a member of the DuBoistown Garden Club, Bald Eagle Art League, the former Bald Eagle Chapter of the American Business Women's Association and the Women's Club. She was one of the first tutors for The Lycoming County's Literacy Program. Her favorite interests were in art, reading, flower arranging and music. She was devoted to her entire family.
A member of the Pine Street United Methodists Church, she served on many of its organizational committees. Betty spent many years in the Women's Bible Study Fellowship day class, studying God's word.
Born August 10, 1928 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Milford M. and Margaret (Brotherton) Williams. She was married to the late Clarence A. Welliver for 25 years before his death in 1996. Surviving are a stepson; Jeffrey B. Welliver of Montoursville, two stepdaughters; Selena Evans of Sudbury, Mass. and Janet Spaccasi of Spencerport, NY, one grandson; Peter Amis of Danville, Conn., two granddaughters; Ellen Baysore of Williamsport and Bethan Davenport of Schenectady, NY, four great grandchildren and many close nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother; Gordon D. Williams of Altoona and two sisters; Marjorie Chevalier of Claymont, Del. and Violet Garner of Pittsfield, Mass.
The funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St., Williamsport with Pastor Doug Eberly officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church from 10 to 11:30 that morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 457 Market St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
The family expresses much gratitude to Betty's loving caregivers.
Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport.
