IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol L.
(Loudenslager) Grimes
February 29, 1948 – April 16, 2025
Carol L. Grimes, a beacon of warmth and humor, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport, the town where her remarkable journey began on February 29, 1948. She lived 77 vibrant years, embracing life with a fun loving spirit that touched everyone she met.
Born in Williamsport, Carol's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication. She worked as a seamstress for Glamorize and Jesco, where her skilled hands crafted garments that brought joy to many.
Carol's zest for life extended far beyond her profession. She found peace and happiness in nature, spending cherished moments camping at Highland Lake every year. Her great sense of humor was a gift she generously shared, bringing smiles and laughter to all who knew her. A devoted gardener, she nurtured her vegetable garden with care, much like she did her relationships with family and friends.
An avid bowler, Carol enjoyed participating in the ABC and Faxon leagues, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. Her love for travel took her on adventures near and far, creating memories that will be treasured by those who accompanied her. Carol's heart was full of love for her feline companions, Poco and Patches, who predeceased her but left paw prints on her heart.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Maxine Loudenslager; her first husband, James L. Grimes, Jr.; her life partner, Steve Updegraff; her infant son, James Grimes III; and her brother, Earl L. Her legacy lives on through her children: Paula Grimes of South Williamsport, Jimmy Grimes of California, and Daphne Grimes-Shorlo (Michael E.) of Loyalsock. She was a proud grandmother to Michael L., Wayne, Jenny, Jade, Erika, Michael W., and David, and a loving great-grandmother to Zoey, Aiden, and Carter. Carol is also survived by her sisters Judy H., Mary Anne L., Wanda K., Beryl N., and Mary, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Home, 500 W.
