S. WILLIAMSPORT - Colleen Marie Hartley (Betron), 86, passed away June 11, 2026, from heart failure related to aortic stenosis. She was surrounded by her family and the caring staff of the Gatehouse Inpatient Hospice in Williamsport.

Colleen was born Sept. 7, 1939, in Jersey Shore to Beatrice (Edwards) and Valentine Betron.

Following her graduation from Williamsport Area High School, Colleen married Ronald Eugene Hartley, and they settled in South Williamsport. Together they raised three children, and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in February 2025, prior to Ronald’s passing.

Colleen worked in elder care at the former Williamsport Leader South Nursing facility, and then built a career in medical records coding at the former Williamsport Hospital. She dedicated over 30 years of service until retirement and bonded with lifelong friends who still gather weekly for Friday night dinners.

She assisted in fund-raising projects at the South Williamsport Fire Department. Attending concerts, ball games, award nights and competitions of all kinds for her children and grandchildren was always a top priority.

Colleen was a crafter, and enjoyed making family and friends hand-painted ceramics, crochet blankets and customized sweatshirts.

She loved hosting holiday gatherings for the generations of her growing family at her home of over 56 years.

She was an avid decorator, always updating her home’s décor with family antiques and new-found treasures, from her infamous collection of "old-school" shop-at-home catalogs.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Suzanne Hartley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcy and Gary Funk and Melissa and Scott Letterman; a brother, Tiny Betron (Cindy); four grandchildren, Megan Nicholas (Mike), Matthew Suders (Olivia), Nathan Funk (Samantha); and a step-daughter-in-law, April Rutherford; and great-grandchildren, William, Alexis, Alyssa, Abigail, Leilani, Carter, Parker, Owen and Finley. Also surviving Colleen are sisters-in-law, Louise Betron, Mary Hartley and Fae Betron; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Along with her late husband, Ronald, Colleen was preceded in passing by her mother and father; mother and father-in-law, Dorthea Coleman-Hartley and Truman Hartley (Jeanette); brothers, Terry Betron (Thalia), Steven Betron, Phillip Betron, Richard Betron; and sister, Carolyn Bigelow (Harold); brother-in-law, Truman Hartley (Bud) Jr.; and sister-in-law, Carol Gehret.

As per Colleen’s wishes, no services are planned. She will be laid to rest in a private family burial at Wildwood Cemetery, with services provided by Maneval Allen-Redmond Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to charities they often supported: Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warriors Foundation, and the Shriners Children’s Hospital, or to the organizations that helped care for Colleen with gracious dignity in her final days: UPMS Home Health Hospice, and the Gatehouse Inpatient Hospice of Williamsport.
