IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daniel Eugene
"Danny/Dan" Maneval
October 3, 1947 – September 12, 2025
WILLIAMSPORT - Daniel Eugene "Danny/Dan" Maneval, 77, passed away peacefully at the Gatehouse on Friday, September 12, 2025.
He was born on October 3, 1947 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Titus LaRue and Margaret Mary (Maloney) Maneval. Dan had graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1965 and then graduated from Lycoming College in 1969 with a degree in Elementary Education and French. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. He had worked and retired in 2019 as Night Auditor/Front Desk Clerk from Econo Lodge in Williamsport. He was also former bookkeeping, inventory control and data entry employee at Information Resources, Inc.
Dan referred to himself as an "uncontrollable theater fanatic". For years, he traveled to New York City annually to attend countless Broadway shows. He also regularly attended Community Theater League, Community Arts Center and Millbrook Playhouse shows and concerts. Additionally, he was an avid attendee and supporter of local high school musicals; he especially looked forward to the annual Ray of Light Awards event.
Activist for the LGBTQ Community, he co-founded The West Branch Gay Support Group; founded Susquehanna Lambda which provided support groups and social activities; as well as establishing the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard – a life-saving resource for untold numbers – Dan worked diligently to make safe spaces for others.
He is survived by extended family members and many faithful friends, all thankful to have attended an exceptional "Celebration of Life" for Dan in July "while he was still with us". He was truly overwhelmed – what a privilege and honor for him (and attendees).
There will be a memorial service held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Christ Episcopal Church, 426 Mulberry St., Williamsport with Rev. Kyle D. Murphy officiating. Burial will be private in Wildwood Cemetery.
