Obituary

MILTON - Donald Lewis Kelchner Jr., age 67, passed away on October 17, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Donald was born to Donald and S. Lucille (Catherman) Kelchner in Williamsport PA.  He met his wife, Shirley J (Beinlich) Kelchner at Williamsport Area Community College.  They married in 1975 and enjoyed 44 years of marriage together.

Donald is a graduate of Temple University and of Eastern Kentucky University with a Master's degree in Criminal Justice.  Following graduation, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections where he had a career spanning 30 years starting as a corrections counselor and working his way up to superintendent.  He was hardworking and dedicated in his work and retired in 2007 from his position as Superintendent at SCI Camp Hill.  He enjoyed sharing stories about his experiences during his career.

Donald was a member of the Masonic Temple in Muncy, PA and the Eagles Mere Rod and Gun Club.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking, reading, traveling, wood working, and a good glass of bourbon.  Donald was dedicated to his family and friends and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Donald joins his parents, Donald and Lucille, and his daughter Heather Nicole in Heaven.  He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Beinlich) Kelchner of Milton PA, and his children Ryan Kelchner and wife Betsy of Milton PA, and daughter Lindsay Norvick and husband Brian of Allentown PA, brother Jeffrey Kelchner and wife Beth of Charlotte NC, as well as sisters Catherine Schuyler and husband Thomas of Easton PA, Debra Shafer and husband Gary of Starkville MS, Andrea McGee of Barnwell SC, and Pamela Williamson and husband Dennis of Pittsburgh PA.  In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Emma and Owen Norvick and Paisley and Beckett Kelchner.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Donald on Friday, October 25, 2019.  A calling hour will begin at 10 am followed by a memorial service at 11 am at Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 W 4th St. Williamsport PA, 17701.
