Donna L. (Markle) Runnels, 88, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Williamsport Home. She was born in Williamsport on April 29, 1936 to the late Clifford D. and Irma I. (Stiber) Markle.
Donna was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Williamsport. On March 14, 1953, Donna married the late Charles A. Runnels, Sr. and they shared 33 wonderful years together until his passing on May 11, 1986. She worked as a secretary for the Lycoming County Commissioners Office until her retirement in 1996. Donna was very active in her local republican party. She liked to do scrapbooking at St. Boniface and was a prolific blood donor during her life. She received many pins for reaching donor goals through blood drives at the courthouse.
Donna is survived by a son, Charles A. "Chuck" (Ann) Runnels, Jr. of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Tom (Melissa) Comfort of Williamsport; and Jerianne Sukits of Texas; five great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Sally Wiegan of Williamsport.
In addition to her parents and husband, Donna is preceded in death by a sister, Jane; and a brother, Henry Markle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Boulevard, Williamsport, with Father Glenn McCreary officiating. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna's name to St. Boniface Catholic Church at 326 Washington Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
