WILLIAMSPORT - Doris M. (Fry) McCoy, 92, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Gate House.
She was born on January 21, 1925 in Hepburn Twp., the daughter of the late Lester and Mildred (Irion) Fry. From her infancy, following the death of her mother, she was raised in Williamsport by her great aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Charles Irion.
Doris was married on May 9, 1951 to the late Harry G. McCoy who died on February 4, 2009. They had celebrated 57 years of marriage.
She graduated from Williamsport High School and worked at Darling Valve prior to beginning her family. She played an integral role in the family business, Lycoming Printing Company, and later worked in the Development Office of Lycoming College. Doris was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving as a Deacon, member of the Women's Association, and participant in weekly prayer meetings. She loved to knit, was a talented seamstress, and an excellent cook, a passion she passed on to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family.
Doris is survived by her children Jay G. McCoy (Megan) of Wilmington, DE, Ann M. Young (John) of Williamsport and Sue E. McCoy (Philip Habib) of White Plains, NY; grandchildren Lauren Borodenko (Chris), Scott McCoy, Emily Caruso (Jeremy) and John Young; great-grandchildren Lily and Juna Borodenko; and siblings Loren Fry (Ruth) of Muncy, Cora Belcher (George) of Kansas and Betty Bennett of Arizona. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Arthur, Floyd and Lawrence Fry, and sisters Audrey Wright, Marie Crissman, Marian Fae Getz and Laura Huffman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 102 East Third St., Williamsport with the Reverend Sam Hwang officiating. Friends and family will be received following the service at the church. A private interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Churches Food Pantry, 320 Park Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701.
Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport.
