Dorothy A. Deuel, 88, of Montoursville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at The Gatehouse in Williamsport. She was born in Williamsport on June 19, 1938, a daughter of the late Harold and Florentine (Dincher) Starr.
Dorothy retired from Hoss’s after working as a prep manager for over 20 years. She married the love of her life, the late Robert E. Deuel, on October 26, 1957, they had celebrated 60 wonderful years together until his passing on September 2, 2017. Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening, and tending to her yard that had a beautiful fishpond. She cared for a plethora of indoor plants, including some that were her mother’s before her. Dorothy was an awesome mom, grammy, and sister. Her favorite time was spent with her family, especially with her grand and great grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by four sons, Robert F. of Montoursville; Stephen C. (Sue) of Linden; Christopher J. of Duboistown; and Matthew W. Deuel (Kate) of Loyalsock; a daughter, Lisa A. Cosentine (Steve) of Williamsport; nine grandchildren, one great grandchild; a brother, John Starr (Wilma); three sisters, Mary Wagner, Kay Harris (Tom), and Aletha Nevling; two brothers-in-law, Jim White and Larry Baker; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Robert, Dorothy is preceded in death by three sisters, Sylvia, Linda, and Jean.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Home, 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with Celebrant Troy Showers officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
