WILLIAMSPORT - Edward "Smokey" Fields, IV, 68, died on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at his residence.

Edward was born on November 18, 1947 in Philadelphia and was the son of the late Edward and Virginia (Williams) Fields, III.  He had worked as a barber at Slys Barber Shop in Philadelphia, Talib's Barbershop and Hair Quarters Barbershop of Williamsport.  He had also worked for the Weiss Company for 6 years; 4 years in Lewisburg and 2 years in Montoursville.  He had attended the Williamsport Islamic Center in Williamsport and enjoyed jazz.  Edward had also hosted a jazz radio show for Penn College Radio  from 2010 – 2013.

Edward is survived by one daughter; Daeemah B. Abdullah of Williamsport, three grandchildren; Idris, Sarai and Talib, four brothers; Gregory Fields, William Fields and Christopher Fields, all of Philadelphia and Douglas Fields of Williamsport, one sister; Denise Fields of Philadelphia, two cousins; Helen Faye Williams and Wendell Williams, both of Philadelphia, one aunt; Ruth Williams of Philadelphia and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Anthony and Kenneth Fields and two sisters; Joann Fields and Cynthia Sharon Fields.

There will be a public visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
