MONTOURSVILLE - Eleanor Mae (Schneider) Marquardt, the only child of Vera (Landon) and Louis Schneider was born on August 8, 1926 and died on August 1, 2016 to begin her new journey in heaven.

Eleanor grew up in Williamsport and attended Transeau Elementary, Stevens Junior High School (remembering it was her class that planted all those pine trees), and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1944

She married John H. (Jack) Marquardt on May 11, 1944 while he was on leave from active duty in the Army Air Corps.  They lived in Meridian, MS for a short time.  They had been married for sixty years when Jack died in 2004.

Eleanor leaves behind 3 children; John Jr. (Ann) Marquardt of Hughesville; Penny (David) Estes of Williamsport; and Robert (Jeanne) Marquardt of Montoursville and 6 grandchildren (Nathan, Elizabeth, Amber, Michelle, Corey and Sarah) and 4 great-grandchildren (Landen, Cullen, Lucas and Lena)

During her rich life, Eleanor worked at Weldon's, Litton, Brodart and as a waitress.  She also completed the Licensed Practical Nursing Program at the former Williamsport Area Community College (now Penn College).  When she was not working, Eleanor was busy raising her family as well as numerous pets.

Eleanor was a member of the former Church of the Savior (Lutheran) where she sang in the choir, served on church councils and participated in her fair share of church dinners.

Eleanor celebrated her life by devoting her time to friends and family.  She loved having a full house and took pride in continuing family traditions.  Her leisure activities kept her just as busy and socially active.  She enjoyed swimming at the YWCA and YMCA, playing cards, traveling, and hosting parties that are still talked about.

Eleanor leaves behind, besides her children and grandchildren, the love of cousins both near and far, and her wonderful friends that remained close by her in her later years.

A private memorial service has been planned by the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to the Lycoming Animal Protection Society, 195 Phillips Park Drive, S. Williamsport, PA 17702 to honor Eleanor's life.

Eleanor will be fondly missed as she was fondly loved.
