"Fred" Stahl
January 2, 1936 – January 30, 2025
Frederick Elwood Stahl, 89, of Williamsport, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport. Fred was born in Williamsport on January 2, 1936, to the late Fred F. and Thelma (Fink) Stahl. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1953. Fred and his wife, the former Arlene Robbins, were married for 66 years. They are members of Messiah Lutheran Church.
Fred served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956 and then worked in his family's store, Stahl's Farm Store from 1956 to 1962. He was employed by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company from 1962 until his retirement 42 years later. Fred served on the Duboistown Borough Council for 10 years.
Fred enjoyed and participated in many sports. He played in the Little League World Series for Loyalsock in 1948 and volunteered as an Uncle for the Little League World Series for 12 years. Fred was an avid golfer and a member of White Deer Golf Course; he had 4 holes-in-one: 1 left-handed and 3 right-handed. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, traveling and spending the winter months in Florida.
Fred is survived by his wife and four children: three daughters, Heidi (Jeff) Dobson of Muncy; Robyn (Damian) Mariano of Waterville; and Erin (Joseph) Staub of Cape Charles, Virginia; a son, Kevin (Melissa) Stahl of Duboistown; 11 grandchildren, Bailey Snyder of Williamsport; Spencer Kimble of Brooklyn, New York; Brady Kimble of Randolph, Vermont; Damian (Kim) Mariano of Hummelstown; Lucas Mariano of Avis; Logan (Diana) Mariano of Scottsdale, Arizona; Corinne (Segun) Fadeyi of Canonsburg; Mallory Staub of Pittsburgh; Nicholas Staub of Cape Charles, Virginia; Sadie and Cameron Stahl of Duboistown; five great grandchildren and a sister, Nancy Stahl Miller of Williamsport.
A memorial service for Fred will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 324 Howard St., South Williamsport with Pastor Jeff LeCrone officiating.
In lieu flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Fred's name to Messiah Lutheran Church at 324 Howard St. South Williamsport, PA 17702.
