George H. Wilson

George H. Wilson, 88, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Leighton Place in Williamsport. He was born in Williamsport on April 23, 1938, a son of the late Robert and Edna (Hosterman) Wilson.

George served his country for four years in the Army National Guard. He married the love of his life, the former Judy S. Reeder, on April 29, 1961, and they have shared over 65 wonderful years together. George graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1956. George was a 1960 graduate of Lycoming College and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He worked as the office manager for Lundy Lumber and retired from Lundy Construction.

George was a member of Greenview Alliance Church in Montoursville, where he directed and sang in the church choir in past years. He started singing in high school and throughout his college career. George sang barbershop with the West Branch Chorus and several quartets. He was the president of the Williamsport Area High School Band Association in 1983 and 1984. George was also a member of Wings of Williamsport. He was proud of the fact that he visited all the PA Gem Sights in the AAA tour book and came close to achieving his goal of visiting all 50 states. He loved music, Drum & Bugle competitions, singing, traveling and most of all spending time with family and friends.

George is survived by his loving wife, Judy S. Wilson; three daughters, Christine McCracken of Jersey Shore; Lori Dixon (Thomas) of Elizabethtown; and Stacy Murphy (William) of Taylors, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Brandon Dixon (Gayle), Ashley Shriner (Christopher), Mitchell McCracken (Natasha), Caitlin Litzelman (Christopher), and Casey Straw (Daniel); 13 great grandchildren, Caleb Dixon, Aariyah Crumpton, Liam Shriner, Hayden Dixon, Lola Dixon, Colton Litzelman, Carter Dixon, Cylus Litzelman, Weston Shriner, Zavier McCracken, Leland Straw, Charlotte Litzelman, and Elyse Straw; a brother, Charles Wilson (Sharon) of Supply, North Carolina; and numerous nephews. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ken McCracken.

A funeral service to celebrate George’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Home, 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport with Pastor Jeffrey Howell officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a public viewing from 10:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home on Saturday. George will be laid to rest privately in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
