MONTGOMERY - Harold J. Engel, 82, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

He was married on May 4, 1957 to the late M. Joanne (Dobson) Engel and they had celebrated 58 years as husband and wife until her death in 2016.

Harold was born on March 10, 1935 in Bastress Twp. and was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Hamm) Engel.  He was a veteran that served with the US Army.  Harold had worked as a truck driver for Follmer's for 27 years then was a driver with Frito Lay from 1983 - 1988.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping and being outdoors.

Harold is survived by two daughters; Christy A. DeRemer (James, Jr.) of Montgomery and Cathy L. Engel of Hughesville, three grandchildren; Matthew T. Koch of Montgomery, Jennifer M. Stein of Lancaster and Michael J. Stein stationed in Richmond Hill, GA, four great-grandchildren; Jace Allen Thomas Koch, James Godley, Kylee Young and Kaytlyn Young, one brother; Richard Engel of Bastress Twp., two sisters; Louise Bernardi of Hershey and Viola Wright of Cogan Station and one sister-in-law; Gladys Engel of Bastress Twp.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are being handled by the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport.
