Helen I. VanHorn, 86, passed away, Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Rose View Nursing Center of Williamsport.
She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Julia "Norton" Hornberger.
Helen was married to Walter H. VanHorn and they shared 49 years of marriage together before his passing in 2013.
She worked as a seamstress in numerous factories. Later in life she drove school bus for Loyalsock Area School District, which she enjoyed very much.
She was a member of the St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Helen was a ceramic and bowling instructor. She had a great passion for bowling. She was a member of the 600 Club and a lifetime member of the Women's International Bowling Congress. In 1999 she was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Helen's favorite thing to do was to travel and go camping with her husband. They visited places such as Alaska, Hawaii and Nova Scotia.
Surviving family members include three daughters; Debbra Worden of Muncy, Tina (Duane) Heverly of Williamsport and Marilee Rothrock of Tampa, Fl; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, Bob and John; and one sister, Phoebe.
In addition to her parents and husband Helen was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Harry and Charles and one sister, Stella.
We will be honoring Helen's life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 11AM at the St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1400 Market St. Williamsport, with Pastor Elizabeth Aurand officiating. There will be a visitation prior to the service starting at 9AM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial contributions to be made in Helen's name be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E 3rd St. Williamsport.
Burial will be at Twin Hills Memorial Park of Muncy.
