Joan B. Lowry, born on October 8, 1949, in Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, at the Williamsport Home at the age of 74. Joan dedicated her life to serving others, working as a social worker for Caring People Alliance and as a secretary at Love Unlimited Ministries for many years.
Joan's life was rich with love, compassion, and devotion. She was deeply involved with Love Unlimited Ministries, where she found spiritual fulfillment and community. Her nurturing spirit extended to her passion for growing house plants and cherishing time spent with family and friends. Joan was adored by her recovery community, where she offered support and kindness.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Shirla (Lewis) Henderson, her beloved husband, Tyrone Little, and her sister, Ahsaki Adiaha Landham, Joan leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her three daughters, Monica Lowry-Collier (Gavin) of Philadelphia; Nawana Lowry of Williamsport; and Marle (Juan Gamble) Lowry of Philadelphia; and her stepson, Omar Little of Philadelphia. Joan's memory will be cherished by her eight grandchildren: Marlin Johnson II, Myles Gamble, Paige Gamble, Juan Gamble III, Tenaj Gamble, Omar Little Jr., Khaliyah Little, and Samiah Little. She is also survived by her brother, Kingston Henderson, her sister, Cheryl Cockett, nephews Brian, Keith, and Anthony, nieces Sharon and Adena, and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joan's life was enriched by the special friendships she shared with Eileen, Mecca, and Candace, and her extended family at Love Unlimited Church. Her presence will be missed by her grand fur babies, Nina and Sugar.
A memorial service celebrating Joan's life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Love Unlimited Ministries, located at 734 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Senior Pastor Isaac Evans will officiate the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, Williamsport.
