WILLIAMSPORT - Joanne C. Engel, 77, passed away in the early morning of October 12, 2020 at UPMC Williamsport.

She was born March 30, 1943 in Portage, PA.  The daughter of Joseph and Anna Rozak Kani.  She was a Portage High School Graduate and received her Bachelors of Education degree from Lock Haven University.  Joanne taught English first at Williamsport Area High School and then for over 35 years she taught at Bishop Neumann, now St. John Neumann Regional Academy.  She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.  She was an avid Notre Dame and Steeler fan. Her love and dedication though, was to her grandchildren and St. John Neumann.

Joanne's survivors include her husband of 53 years Donald L. Engel whom she married January 21, 1967, 2 daughters, Jill Meredith and Kimberly Alviani both of Williamsport; and 4 grandchildren, Gabriel, Ryan, Hanna and Christian.

Joanne's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am Monday October 19,2020 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd. Williamsport with her Priest Rev. William Corcoran.  The Celebrant Contributions may be made to St. John Neumann Regional Academy, 901 Penn St. Williamsport, PA 17701.
