WILLIAMSPORT - John Francis Beirne, 65, of passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville from chronic heart disease.

He was born on November 17, 1950 in Wilkes-Barre and was the son of the late Owen Thomas and Teresa Finnen Beirne.

A friend of Bill W. and Jimmy K. for 37 years, John B. was a lifelong fan of learning, technology and eating.  He served two tours of duty with the 1st Calvary Division in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.  He graduated from Mansfield University in 1984.

John is survived by his children; Erin Elizabeth Beirne and Ryan Patrick Beirne (Lindsey) and his grandchildren; Alex Keegan Anspach and Kamden Delroy Swanger.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother; Dr. Helen Dittman Beirne and his brother; Nick Fleenor.

In keeping with John's wishes, a poolside memorial will be planned for September 3, 2016.  He requested that there was not to be any viewing or funeral service.
