WILLIAMSPORT - John Kevin Short, 58, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 surrounded by his family.

He was married to the former Glenda Annett (Gibson) on June 26, 1976, who survives, and they would have celebrated 40 years as husband and wife this June.

John was born on February 17, 1958 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Clifford and Marjorie (Westley) Short.  He had attended Williamsport Schools.  John had worked for Bethlehem Steel for 5 years, then Stone Containers for 32 years and then Williamsport Wire Rope for 3 years.  He was a member of Zion AME Church and he enjoyed playing the drums, singing, drawing, fishing, sports, yard work and spending time with his dog "Nike".

In addition to his wife Glenda, he is survived by one son; Kevin L. Short, two daughters; Margery A. Short and Annette K. Short, 11 grandchildren, one brother; Clifford B. Short, Jr., all of Williamsport, two sisters; Katherine A. Hughes of Binghamton, NY and Rene' M. Short of Williamsport along with nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Katherine Westley.

There will be a gathering of family and friends 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation & Funeral Home, 500 West 4th St., Williamsport where the memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m.  The Reverend Danesta Whaley will officiate the service.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
