Larry A. Kahle, 81, of Elimsport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at WeCare Sycamore in Montoursville. Born on May 21, 1944, in Montgomery, he was the first child of the late John and Betty (Wertz) Kahle.
Larry was a proud graduate of Montgomery Area High School, Class of 1963. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, including service as a Military Policeman in Heidelberg, Germany in 1968. On November 8, 1969, he married the love of his life, the former Lois P. “Polly” Hitesman, with whom he shared 56 devoted years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and enduring love.
Larry held a variety of roles throughout his career, including positions at Montgomery Mills, Sprout Waldron, and Hille Anglers Supply House. He later served as a guard before retiring from Muncy Correctional Institution after 18 years of dedicated service. A man deeply connected to his community, Larry was a longtime member of the Montgomery Lions Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fly fishing across Pennsylvania. A true craftsman, he tied his own flies and built his own fishing rods. He especially cherished time spent hunting crows along the banks of the Susquehanna River in West Milton. In quieter moments, Larry enjoyed playing cards and completing word searches.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois P. “Polly” Kahle; his son, Ashley Kahle of South Williamsport; his granddaughter, Meghan Kahle; and two dear friends, Duane Mantel and Bob Vaughn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary D. Kahle.
Family and friends are invited to a public viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Maneval Allen Redmond Cremation and Funeral Home, 500 W. Fourth Street, Williamsport.
