IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorretta "Loret"
M. (Gortner) Myers
September 1, 1934 – October 22, 2017
Lorretta (Loret) M. Myers
Loret Myers went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for all of eternity on Sunday, October 22, 2017, while residing at the Loyalsock Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Williamsport.
Loret was born September 1, 1934, to parents Donald and Marguerite (Artley) Gortner. She was reared in the sleepy hamlet of Pennsdale, graduating along with her twin sister Lorraine from Muncy High School in 1952.
Loret went on to work most notably for several employers throughout her lifetime including Lycoming Aircraft Engines, Sylvania (later Philips ECG), CA Reed, and The Kroger Company.
Those who loved her knew her best by a variety of different names including Lorretta, Loret, Toot, and Rah. Possessing a heart of gold, Loret lived out the selfless love of Christ, expressing compassion for people in need including those most vulnerable in life. The Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) were obvious in the course of her daily life: "Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control." These all describe Loret!
Not having children of her own, Loret drew great joy from her relationship with her sisters and their families, fulfilling the role of the doting Aunt Rah to not one, but two generations of nieces and nephews. Loret's relationship with her twin sister Lorraine was particularly special to her. For much of their lives they were inseparable.
Later in life, Loret became a dog owner and lover, expressing the same love, concern, and compassion for her Yorkie, Bella, and her Golden Doodle, Riley. Loret made and kept dear friendships everywhere she went in life including her time in the Williamsport area, Seneca Falls, NY, New Smyrna Beach, FL, and Columbus, OH. A frequent joy of Loret's later in life was getting together with friends in the Williamsport area for coffee and fellowship on a weekly basis.
To say she will be missed dearly by countless friends and family members is beyond question. Our loss is truly heaven's gain!
Loret was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marguerite Gortner. By sisters Mary Louise Gortner and Shirley A. Hofer. By a brother, Frederick Donald Gortner. Also by her niece, Delores (Hill) Seitzinger.
She is survived by sisters Ernestine Seitzinger of Montoursville, her twin Lorraine Ross of Loyalsock Township, and Donna Stroup of Grove City, OH, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service in honor of Loret will be held Thursday, October 26th at 2:00 PM at the Twin Hills Church of the Nazarene with her nephew, the Rev. Robert Stroup II, presiding. A graveside committal service will be held immediately following the service in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.
