WILLIAMSPORT - Mary Elizabeth Armstrong, 93, of Williamsport, passed away October 3, 2016, at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums, PA, surrounded by family.

She was born on January 13, 1923, daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary C. (Manley) McQuillen.  Mary graduated from Williamsport High School in 1941.  She went on to work as a secretary at Sweet Steel and later worked in the Williamsport City Treasurer's Office.

She married the love of her life, Donald E. Armstrong, in 1947. They shared almost 68 wonderful years together before Don's passing in 2015.

Mary was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Williamsport, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was more recently a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Muncy.  When her children were young, she was active in the Sheridan Elementary School PTA and was the neighborhood mom to her children's friends.

Mary loved baking and cooking, and she and Don hosted many memorable family reunions.  Her favorite times were those spent with family, and she especially liked teaching "pre-school" to her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by one son, Donald A. Armstrong, of Mountaintop; two daughters, Mary Lou (Daniel) Hartsock, of Williamsport, and Cynthia Armstrong-Goodrich, of Daytona, FL.; three grandchildren, Mary Alice Hartsock (Nathan Bordy), of Drexel Hill, Matthew Hartsock, of Boulder, CO, and Mary Clare Goodrich, of Ormond Beach, FL; and one sister, Annabelle Dobson, of South Williamsport.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Carl and Charles McQuillen; two sisters, Gladys Neupauer and Florence Burrows; and one son-in-law, Mark Goodrich.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037, Memo line: Hurricane Matthew Relief, or to redcross.org.
