Mitzi Stern Leider age 90 died peacefully at her residence at Villa Rancho Bernardo skilled nursing facility in San Diego, California on December 24 2023.

Mitzi was born December 19, 1933 in Buffalo, New York, to the late Harry and Harriet Stern. She grew up in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University in State College as an English major, where she recalled some of her fondest earlier memories including her time in Greek life, making lifelong friends and meeting her husband, Arnold Leider. Mitzi expressed her passion for education as an English teacher, substitute teacher and later, teaching English as a Second Language to adults. Mitzi was a lover of theatre, enjoyed playing the piano, swimming and was engaged in Hadassah. A lifelong learner, Mitzi took various Adult Ed classes which in later years included poetry and autobiographical journaling.

She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Harriet Stern, sisters Elaine Rauff and Beatrice Harrison, and husband Arnold Leider. Mitzi is survived by her children Harry Leider, Laurie Reiss, and Jill Berquist, and their respective families including six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Villa Rancho Bernardo for all of their immense compassion and care.

A private interment will be held on January 5 at Wildwood Cemetery in Williamsport.
