LINDEN - Richard F. "Rich" Matthews, Jr., 47, died unexpectedly as the result of an accident on Monday, January 11, 2016.

He was married to the former Lori M. (Daniels) of New York for 16 years this past September and who survives.

Rich was born on September 1, 1968 in Williamsport and was the son of Richard F. Matthews, Sr. of Williamsport and Carole R. (Mundy) Matthews of Linden.  He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1986.  He had worked as a laborer.  Rich enjoyed going to the River Lot, fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hunting, cooking gardening and loved his dog "Lacey".  He was an avid Steeler and Flyers fan.  Most of all, he enjoyed being around people.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one son; Seth Michael Miller (Matthews) and one daughter; Chelsie Nicole Matthews, both of Williamsport, two brothers; James E.W. Nottingham of Hughesville and Kristian R. (Virjine) Matthews of Cogan Station, three sisters; Linnea C. (Daniel) DelFine of Freeland, Christel L. (Fred) Hamman and Heidi M. (Sean) Hauke, all of Williamsport, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his River Lot "Buddies".  He was preceded in death by one daughter; Melissa Brusch, one brother; James E. Nottingham, grandparents and one nephew.

There will be a public viewing 6 – 9 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 and again 10 – 11 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport where the funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m.   Minister Joseph Baity will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery.
