WILLIAMSPORT - Robert Chester Walker, Sr., 83, died on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services, North.

He was married to the former Doris E. (Adams), who survives, on June 6, 1955 and they would have celebrated 61 years as husband and wife this coming June.

Robert was born in Williamsport on November 29, 1932, a son of the late Edgar and Laura (Hughes) Walker.  He worked for Bethlehem Steel for 32 years and retired in 1982.  Robert was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Edgar A. Stills Lodge, #207, where he was Exalted Ruler for 19 years.  He enjoyed gardening and hunting.

In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by six sons; Richard K. Walker of Williamsport, Craig S. Walker of Harrisburg, Elliott S. Walker of Lewisburg, Clint M. Walker, Sr., Sean P. Walker and Mark A. Walker, all of Williamsport, four daughters; Reva D. Walker of Williamsport, Vontella C. Irick of Maryland, Gloria L. Barone of Atlanta, GA and Laurona M. Walker of Williamsport, 43 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons; Laurence R. Walker, Robert C. Walker, Jr. and Darrell W. Walker, one daughter; Roberta I. Stewart, two brothers and four sisters.

There will be a public viewing 10 a.m. – 12 (noon) Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the City Church, 36 East 4th St., Williamsport, where the funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m.  Earl Neff, Danesta Whaley and Raphael Mnkandhla will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
