Obituary

Virginia R. (Howlett) Swinehart, 88, of Williamsport, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at her home.

She was married to the late William J. "Bill" Swinehart, Sr. for 58 years until his death in 2015.

Virginia was born on April 6, 1937 in Williamsport and was the daughter of the late William Grant and Neva Clarissa (Wright) Howlett.  She had worked at Leader Nursing Home from 1976 to 1981.  She had went to church at Central Baptist, Calvary Baptist and Good News Church.  She was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and the Junior League.  Virginia had volunteered for the Red Cross and enjoyed playing cards and watching college football.

Virginia is survived by two sons; David L. Swinehart of Williamsport and Stephen M. Swinehart (Robyn) of Muncy, two grandchildren; Benjamin S. Swinehart (Alexandra) and Alicia Crane (Cody), one sister-in-law; Sarah Howlett of Williamsport and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son; William J. Swinehart, Jr. and four brothers; James "Jim", Joseph "Max", Leonard and Francis Howlett.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport.
