"Bud" Apker
October 19, 1928 – August 11, 2024
WILLIAMSPORT - Walter S. "Bud" Apker, 95, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at UPMC Williamsport.
He was married to the former Shirley A. (Campbell), who survives, on December 8, 1962 and they have shared 61 years as husband and wife.
Walter was born on October 19, 1928 in McIntyre Township and was the son of the late Clarence and Frances (Smith) Apker. He enlisted in the US Army and served during WWII. He had worked for Rob Supply and then Lonza where he retired from after 30 years of service. Walter was a member of the Eagle Mountain Word of Faith Church. He enjoyed bird watching, farming and blowing glass. He had refurbished the old barn into the family home and he loved Christmas.
In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by nine grandchildren, over 19 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four daughters; Jocelyn K. Lewis, Phyllis J. Smith, Diane G. Winner and Debra A. Morgan, one sister; Ellen Lucas, one granddaughter; Jerri M. Apker and one great granddaughter; Sadie McNeil.
There will be a gathering of family and friends 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at the Eagle Mountain Word of Faith Church, 1804 Bloomingrove Rd., Williamsport where the Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral Home, 500 W. 4th St., Williamsport.
