Dr. William J. (Bill) Todhunter of Muncy passed away at his home on Saturday, January 7th, after a brief hospitalization.

He was born on May 7, 1950 in Williamsport, the son of William D. and Betty Boyd Todhunter. He retired in 2016 as the Medical Director of the Wound Center at Susquehanna Health System, and previously had practiced general surgery in the area from 1988 to 2014. He served nine years in the US Army Medical Corps, rising to the rank of Major and completed his general surgery residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, Texas in 1984. He was a 1979 graduate of Temple University Medical School and had earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a master's degree from John Carroll University.

He is survived by his son Jamie (Carrie) of Pike Road, Alabama and daughter Lindsay Sauers (Eric) of Philadelphia, his ex-wife Joni Pyle of Williamsport, and two grandchildren, William Todhunter and Esmé Sauers. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard B. Todhunter.

Among his many passions were woodworking, cooking, kayaking, photography, riding his motorcycle, learning about history, and flying. He also deeply enjoyed time with his two cats, Mitch and Watson, who were his special companions. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, for his devotion to family and friends, and for the unparalleled commitment and integrity he had in caring for his patients.

A visitation will be held at Maneval Allen Redmond Funeral and Cremation Home, 500 West 4th St., from 6-8pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 and again from 11- 11:30am on Thursday, January 12, 2017 with a service following.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Lycoming County SPCA.
