Augustus “Gus” Osterhoudt, 70, formerly of Endicott, New York, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center in Montoursville, Pennsylvania. He was born in Stamford, New York and raised in Bovina Center, New York by his late aunt Laura and uncle Howard LaFever. He was affectionately nicknamed “Bub”.
Augustus attended Delaware Academy and SUNY Delhi. He worked for Raymond Corporation in Greene, New York as a welder for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a big family man and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed carpentry and watching NASCAR.
Augustus is survived by two daughters, April (Mike) Osterhoudt of Montoursville; and Christine Osterhoudt of New York City; two granddaughters, Roselyn and Olivia; a sister, Deede (John) Nolan of Arkville, New York; three nieces; and two cousins that were like siblings, Susan and Howard B. LaFever.
In addition to his aunt and uncle, Augustus is preceded in death by three cousins, John, Allan, and MaryAnne; and a best friend, Ken “Kenny” Howard.
A memorial service for Augustus is being planned for Saturday, June 15, 2024, at the Bovina Cemetery at 110 Coulter Brook Rd., Bovina Center, NY 13740.
