Geoffrey A. Smith, 67, of Williamsport passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Gatehouse Hospice in Williamsport surrounded by his family. He was born in Williamsport, a son of J. Nolan and Jane Hays Stearns Smith. He was employed by the sales department of Dakota Software Co., retiring in 2019. Prior to his employment with Dakota he had a long successful and rewarding career in Boston selling HiFi audio and video equipment.
Geoffrey was a judge for over ten years with Odyssey of the Mind. He was an excellent chef and loved fine wine and preparing and enjoying gourmet dinners. He loved to host friends and family for Friday night cocktails and hors d’oeuvres carrying on a long family tradition from his parents. He loved the outdoors often going on hikes and long walks. His lifelong love of music was complemented by a large, discriminating and eclectic collection of albums, CD’s and playlists, which he loved listening to with friends.
Geoffrey’s survivors include his daughter, Ila Zee Sturges of Andover, KS. Two sisters, Katherine L. Mextorf (Richard) of Hamburg and Margaret H. Smith (Jim Huffman) of Montoursville. Two brothers, Matthew G. Smith of Montoursville and J. Scott McNeill of Nisbet. His long time girlfriend, Mary Millis McLaughlin of Winston-Salem, NC. And six nephews and two nieces.
On May 8, 2022 Geoffrey’s Life Tribute Celebration will be held at the Maneval-Allen-Redmond Funeral Home 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA.; beginning at 4:00pm. Interment will be at his family’s convenience and his family suggests contributions be made to the North Central Pennsylvania Conservancy 330 Government Pl., Williamsport, PA 17701.
