John C. “Jackie” Robinson, Jr., 66, of Williamsport passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Rose View Manor in Williamsport where he had been a guest since late December.

He was born December 13, 1955 in Williamsport a son of John C. and Cozy (Morris) Robinson, Sr.  He was married to Robin M. (Cooper) Robinson on October 1, 1988 and she survives. Jackie was a 1973 graduate of Williamsport High School and received his associate’s degree from Williamsport Area Community College in 1975 in radio Communications.

Early in Jackie’s life he was a DJ at four different Williamsport area radio stations and at one time had his own DJ business and did odd jobs for some time.  He had his own Newspaper route with the Williamsport Sun Gazette newspaper. He worked for Curchoe’s grocery as a cashier and for Brodart Company.  John also worked for Bethlehem Steel Wire Rope.  He retired in 2020 after 42 years of dedicated service to Textron Lycoming Engines.  

He was a member and Trustee at Bethel A.M.E. church in Williamsport. He was a Brother for the Edgar A. Still Lodge #207 in Williamsport where he held the position of Treasurer, House Chairman, Financial Secretary and Recording Secretary from 2000 through 2018.  John enjoyed reading, watching movies, music and taking cruises.

Besides his wife Robin of nearly 43 years he is survived by his children: Angel N. Strothers of Williamsport and Duane Strothers of Georgia, along with 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one sister Judith A. Lewis of Upper Marlboro, MD and one niece and one nephew.  He was predeceased by his parents, a son Samuel M. Strothers  and his sister JoAnn C. Rhoades.

Graveside services will be held in the East Section of Wildwood Cemetery on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:00 am when a short prayer service will be observed.  His family suggests contributions be made to Food for the Poor at www.foodforthepoor.org
