Obituary

M. Jane Levengood, 87, of Williamsport, passed away early Friday morning, March 25, 2022 at The Williamsport Home where she had been a guest for a short while.  She was born February 26, 1935 in Williamsport, a daughter of Edgar and Helen Jane (Butler) Levengood. Jane graduated from the Williamsport Area High School in June of 1953.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, majoring in Library Science from Clarion State College in December of 1975 and her Masters of Education in Reading from Bloomsburg University in May of 1988.  In August of 1988 she received a professional certificate to practice the “art of teaching” in Library Science.  Jane retired on October 16, 2001, after 25 years as the head children’s librarian for the Williamsport Area School District. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority to which she had perfect attendance for over 27 years.  She was a member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church of Williamsport where she was a member of the Choir and taught Sunday school.  Jane enjoyed bird watching, butterflies and gardening. 

Her survivors include her siblings: Diana Ruth Kadash of Wilmington, DE, Jacqueline Kay O’Shea (Kevin) of Montoursville and David Lance Spong of Venice, FL.; nieces Nicole Diane Capuzzi (Marco) of Doylestown,PA,  Chelsea Lynn Trowbridge and Jenna Marie Trowbridge of Longmont, CO and a great niece Olivia Gabriella Capuzzi also of Doylestown, PA.

Jane’s Life Tribute Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, 1427 Memorial Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701.  Friends are welcome to attend.  Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery.  To leave your fondest memories or condolences please visit www.jamesmaneval.com
