Marilyn Frazier Obituary

WILLIAMSPORT - Marilyn Harer Frazier, 92, died on April 3, 2020 surrounded by her children at The Willows at Muncy Place.

Marilyn was born in Muncy Creek Township, PA on June 5, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Howard LaVerne and Eba Kathryn Harer.

At a young age her family moved from Muncy Creek Township to Montgomery, then to Williamsport, where she would live for most of her life.  She was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Bucknell University. After graduating from Bucknell, she taught middle school in New Jersey until she married Thomas A. “Tuck” Frazier, whom she met at Stevens Junior High School, and returned to Williamsport.  Marilyn and Tuck were married for 61 years until his passing in 2016 and were the parents of three children.

Marilyn was kind-hearted and very devoted to her family, friends and community.

Marilyn was very active in many community organizations throughout her life, either as a committee member or serving in a leadership role.  She is a former member of the boards of the Junior League, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the Florence Crittenton Home, the Williamsport Home, and the YMCA Girls’ Swim Team; and a volunteer for the Williamsport Hospital and the Lycoming United Fund (currently the Lycoming County United Way).  She also was the secretary for Bucknell University’s Class of 1949 and previously served as a committee member for the university’s sport’s Hall of Fame selection committee.

Marilyn was the recipient of the AAUW’s Woman of the Year Award and the Lycoming County Brotherhood Alliance’s Ray Keyes Sports Award.

She was very active in the sport of swimming as a parent, volunteer, instructor, coach and official.  She also was a talented golfer, skilled in needlework, and enjoyed travelling, card games and her feline companions.

But more than anything, Marilyn loved spending time with her family and friends, especially for holiday meals at Christmas and Easter, or picnics with her wonderful lifelong friends.

She is survived by her son Thomas Marc (Laurie) of Elimsport, son Charles H. ‘Chip’ (Brenda) of Clinton Township, daughter B. Kathryn (Thomas Gehringer) of Macungie, grandchildren Rebecca Frazier and Duncan Frazier, step-grand children Stacey Paronish (Todd), Kelly Webb, and Christopher Webb (Julie) and seven great step-grandchildren.

Marilyn’s family would like to thank the staff at The Willows at Muncy Place. Their compassionate and professional care are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten.

A private burial will be held by the family in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be a celebration of Marilyn’s life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to The Willows at Muncy Place, c/o The Susquehanna Foundation, 1001 Grampian Blvd, Williamsport, PA 17701.
