Marilyn J. (Shief) Jackson, passed away on December 2, 2023, at The Williamsport Home. She was born on July 8, 1941, in Williamsport, a beloved daughter of the late "Whitey" and Ruth (Lewis) Shief. Marilyn was 82 years old at the time of her passing.
Marilyn had a fulfilling career that spanned various fields. She began her professional journey as a surgical technician at Divine Providence Hospital before becoming a supervisor at a child care center. Later on, Marilyn pursued her passion for healing and became a massage therapist. Her dedication and skill in this field brought comfort to many.
Outside of work, Marilyn had a wide range of interests and hobbies. She had an unwavering love for music, reading, and writing. Marilyn's artistic talents were evident in her beautiful creations. She also had a deep spiritual side and devoted herself to studying religion. As a humanitarian, she always sought ways to make a positive impact on others' lives. Marilyn's infectious sense of humor brightened the days of those around her, as she was known for her ability to crack jokes and bring laughter into any room.
Marilyn was an active member of various organizations throughout her life. She attended Community Baptist Church in Montoursville and was involved with the Younger Woman's Organization Now and Wise Options for Women at the YWCA. Additionally, she supported the AIDs Resource Alliance, demonstrating her commitment to helping those in need.
Marilyn's educational achievements were notable as well. She graduated from Williamsport High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in English and journalism from Lycoming College.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Thomas W. Jackson, a son, Robert Lorson and a nephew, David Keller.
Marilyn leaves behind a cherished family and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. She is survived by her two sons, Jeff (Michelle) Lorson of Montoursville and Kristopher Lorson of South Williamsport. Marilyn was a loving grandmother to three grandchildren: Paige and Nicholas Lorson, and Zoe (Jacob) Shadow-Man. Her sister, Jane Yeagle of Newberry, and niece, Ann Marie Graham, as well as nephew Bill (Julie) Keller, also mourn her loss.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Marilyn will be held on at 11:00am, Monday, December 11, 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 800 Mulberry Street, Montoursville with Reverend Michael S. McCormick officiating.
