Myrna Byrne Obituary

Myrna “Ma” Byrne, 87, of Montoursville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, February 29th, 2024 at The Gatehouse in Williamsport. She was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on Aug. 15, 1936 to the late William F. and Caroline (Maggs) Miller. Beloved mother, wife, and fabulous grandmother, Myrna is missed by her survivors, close friends, and community.

Myrna worked at Sylvania and Alcan for over 25 years, in various roles, including a successful stint as a forklift operator. She was affectionately known as “Ma” Byrne by her colleagues.  She loved to spend time with her family, especially cooking Sunday dinners, making her famous mac and cheese, delicious chocolate chip cookies, passing down family recipes, and hosting Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holidays.  Myrna stayed very active throughout her life.  She volunteered with hospice, played bocci ball, competed in bowling leagues, was an active square dancer and loved polka music. Her close friends served as a second family and were a constant presence in her life.

Myrna is survived by her son, Vincent (Lyn Belford) Byrne of Montoursville, PA; two granddaughters, Caroline Byrne (Christopher DeLorge) of Lebanon, ME; and Madeleine Byrne of Philadelphia, PA; and a grandson, Aaron Kiessling of Williamsport, PA.

In addition to her parents, Myrna is preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Byrne; second husband, Neil Ebert; and a cherished sister, Veirly Rosemurgy.
