Roselyn M. (Goins) Porter affectionately known as “Mickey”, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony W. “Scag” Porter, Sr. with whom she shared forty-one years of marriage.
Born April 1, 1943, in Williamsport the daughter of the late Louis D. and Geraldine M. (Todd) Goins. Mickey was a graduate of The Williamsport High School. She was employed by the former Sylvania from 1961-1970. She was also a homemaker. Mickey was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was baptized at a young age. She served as the President of the LFC Club, the OME Club, the senior and junior choir director and served as the financial secretary. In 2003, she joined Christ Community Worship Center where she was baptized in Jesus name and was the church mother.
Mickey is survived by her sons, Neal L. and Anthony W. “Brother” Porter, Jr; and her daughter, Gerri Porter. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Olivia, Jazymyn, Terrance, Cedric, Elijah and Paige; two great-grandchildren, Neeko and Lailie; her sister, Charlotte Davis of Harrisburg; brother-in-law, Vernon H. Porter of Williamsport, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Beverly Hudson and Barbara Hunter and one brother, Louis Goins II.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Christ Community Worship Center, 436 West Fourth Street, Williamsport with the Bishop Marvin C. Reeves officiating. A public viewing will be held at 9:00 am and service at 10:00 am at the church. Interment will be at Twins Hills Memorial Park immediately following the service.
