LOYALSOCK TWP. - Peyton D. McDonald, 80, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at his home.
Peyton was born in Kansas City, Kansas on February 6, 1936 and was the son of the late Charles and Myra (Miller) McDonald. He graduated from Great Neck High School, New York and then earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Bucknell University, where he was a member of the social fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha and also elected to Omikron Delta Kappa leadership fraternity.
Following service in the US Army Reserves, Peyton worked at Sprout Waldron for 10 years. In 1969 he opened a brokerage office in Williamsport, associated with Hugh Johnson & Co. He continued as a broker for 40 years, retiring from Merrill Lynch in 2012.
Peyton is a familiar face on many boards. He served as campaign chairman and president of Hope Enterprises, where he continued to serve for 46 years. Likewise, he served on the board of the Lycoming United Way in many capacities and chairman of the board at Divine Providence, when it merged with Susquehanna Health. He was also proud to have been a part of the creation of the Penn College Foundation and president during the early years.
A member of the Covenant Central Church for 58 years, he faithfully served as deacon, elder and wherever needed.
An avid golfer and long-time member of the Williamsport Country Club, Peyton became club champion 3 times – in 3 different decades!
He is survived by his wife Frances (Beighley) “Peachy” McDonald, his sons; Peyton Jr. “Pedie” and Todd (Marlo) McDonald, his grandchildren; Gabriel and Gwendolyn and his brother; John L. McDonald of Houston, TX. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Charles McDonald.

A memorial Service will be held, Wednesday 09/14/2016 at 11:00 am at the Covenant Central Presbyterian Church, 807 W. 4th Street, Williamsport with Reverend Elizabeth Affspraung officiating.
